A Radical New Vision for a Compassionate World

The Love Experiment

The Love Experiment is an exciting project highlighting the power we all have to create greater love, compassion and connection in a world that increasingly seems to call us to fear and division.

First initiated by my colleague, Debra Simmons, the Love Experiment is a way of bringing together those who want to collectively create ripples that can directly and indirectly influence our families, workplaces and communities in a positive way.

Love is a powerful resource.

Fear is what fills the void when we don't engage with Love.

We look around the world and see division, distruct, fear and conflict. Either we continue to feel powerless, or we start creating powerful ripples of our own - ripples of Love.

As you  notice what is wrong with the organisation you work in, struggle with family fall-outs, find yourslf and others complaining about your circumstances, or listen to escalating world news, it's easy to think that there's nothing we can do about living in a challenging world.

Of course, there are plenty of very real challenges that we are all up against on a daily basis.

But we have more power than we think.

Our power is in every word we speak, every interaction we have, every action we take.

Are we coming from LOVE or  FEAR?

When we commit to live from Love not Fear, we start to notice just how widespread Fear has become.

Mostly it's not a terrified or even anxious type of fear (although it might be that). But how often are we feeling frustrated with someone else's behaviour or irritated by circumstances, because of the way they seem to make us feel? How often are we trying to control others or the world, simply so that we ourselves can feel better?

I know for myself the anwer is 'very frequently'!

In my work with clients, as well as my personal experience, I have learnt to recognise how much our innocent, well-meaning attempts to put the world and others straight, are in fact the cause of enormous conflict.

The Love experiment is a chance to look at things differently. To see what is Love and what is Fear - and to make a choice.

The first step is to start noticing Fear - in ourselves, and in others. We can begin to recognise Fear's many disguises, and the ways in which we justify, hide or simply fail to recognise our Fear. When you recognise something, then you have a choice.

The choice to act from Love.

Here are some ways to start to recognise which is which:

LOVE

  • Love wants the best for everyone
  • Sees us all as connected - what's good for one is good for all
  • Knows there is enough for everyone - seeks to share
  • Makes room for mistakes, can tolerate uncertainty

All of which leads to trust, peace and harmony.

FEAR

  • Fear needs me to be OK first
  • Sees us as separate - we need to compete & compare
  • Thinks that if others have it, there's less for me
  • Needs to get it right, control and be certain

All of which leads to stress, anxiety and conflict.

What we've noticed is that if it doesn't feel like Love, it's probably Fear!

So we invite you to experiment!

The Love Experiment is exactly that: an EXPERIMENT.

This is a chance to try taking a path of Love rather than Fear, and notice the results. A space where you can try doing things differently, and see what works, and what doesn't.

To learn from your own, and each others' experience.

We like to see this as a game. We are never going to get it right all the time - Fear can easily creep into what we are doing. But bit by bit, as we notice more we have more chances to choose, and more opportunities to experiment with what Love can do in all our different situations.

It's by sowing those seeds that we start to get feedback on how to deploy Love effectively, and the changes it can create in our lives.

You can also learn more about what we are up to and get involved with the Love Experiment independently on Youtube:

The Love Experiment is based on our understanding that everyone and everything is connected.

We sometimes call that energy of which we are all a part 'God' or sometimes 'Universal Energy', 'Universal Mind' or 'The Infinite'.

You'll find we often use the word God, and refer to words from the Bible. We think Jesus spent his whole life pointing to the power of Love and Connection to change everything for the better! However, whether you are Christian, a person of any other faith or none, you will find yourself welcome and at home in this group. The Love Experiment aims to express the universal truth of Love of which we are all part, and the common ground we all share. Join us!
